Dozens of mallards on the creek. Gray sky, light breeze from the northeast. Single sail venturing onto the water. Muskrat swimming and diving off the southern shore. Two mallards and two clusters of ducklings off the eastern shore. Nine or ten geese and seven goslings on the grass near the bandshell. A scaly-stemmed grisette matures in a day next to the path in the  northeast marsh. Paths busy, a few people at the beaches; a few fishermen.
