Blue sky, a few small and diffuse cumulus clouds, breeze from the northwest. Mallards and gulls sitting still in the southwest inlet, the mallards in the shallows and the gulls on stones. Mallards and a few coots more active farther north. Thin rim of ice forming along the shore. Fishermen and their poles established near the band shell; fishing boat off the northern shore. Icicles hanging from branches over the western shore, bright in the sun. A dozen and half mallards on the creek.

Creek high. Gray sky, little breeze. Solitary loon off the southern shore. Mallards, coots, and a diving grebe scattered off the southwest shore. Thousands of gulls flocking and settling over the middle of the lake; hundreds more on the wooden dock at anchor near the northern shore; hundreds more arriving in a high, loose stream from the north. Patches of ice on the paths, few people.

Southwest dock floating at anchor, mallards mixed with coots nearby. A few gulls on the north side of the lake, a large one flapping its wings on the water, two in the air, several on that anchored dock. Milkweed seeds scattered by the wind in the northern marsh.
